Like any other state, Washington also requires auto insurance on all vehicles. There are also minimum limits that you must obtain, including:

• Bodily injury coverage for $25,000 for each person and $50,000 for each accident
• Property damage coverage for $10,000
• Underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage for $25,000 for each person and $50,000 for each accident

Liability insurance is mandatory. It pays for property damage and injuries caused by accident to another individual that you cause.

Additional Insurance Coverage

You can also choose from other coverage options if you choose to obtain more coverage, such as:

• Collision- If you have been involved in an accident with another motorist, this will cover your expenses for repair or replacement.
• Comprehensive- If your car sustains physical damage from things such as theft, vandalism, animals, or weather, this will cover your repair expenses.
• Uninsured/underinsured- If you are involved in an accident with a driver who does not have insurance or not enough insurance, this will cover your repair and medical expenses if the other driver is at fault.
• Roadside assistance- If your car breaks down, runs out of gas, or leaves you stranded for some other reason, this is good coverage to obtain.
